s5kb is a Self-hosted, Secure, Scalable, Smart, Semantic Knowledge Base.
Five words that start with S, and one that says what it is. Together they define s5kb.
Self-hosted
s5kb runs on a dedicated appliance inside your own network. One appliance per customer, with no shared cloud and no multi-tenant service.
Secure
Your data never leaves your network, and people see only what they are allowed to see. The section below shows how it is secured and tested.
Scalable
s5kb grows to the size your organization needs. Capacity is a matter of hardware configuration, which we settle with you in a sizing exercise.
Smart
Ask a question in plain language and get an answer, with citations, drawn from your own documents. The answering model runs on the appliance.
Semantic
Search understands meaning. It finds what you mean, not only the words you typed.
Knowledge base
Your policies, manuals, reports and records, connected in place and made askable by the people who are allowed to read them.
From your documents to answers your people can use
Your documents
Policies, manuals, reports and records stay where they are.
The s5kb appliance
Indexes and understands them on your premises.
Answers in plain language
Your people ask a question and get an answer from your own content.
Secure by design, and tested before it reaches you.
s5kb runs entirely inside your network. This is how it keeps your documents there, and how it keeps them visible only to the people who should see them.
Your data never leaves your network
The answering model, the search index and every document extract run on the appliance. There are no calls to a cloud AI service and no outside storage.
People see only what they are allowed to see
Access follows your Active Directory groups. The model is never shown a passage the person asking may not read, and nobody, including the appliance administrator, gets a back door to other people's documents.
Encrypted and signed
Traffic to the appliance, documents read from your file servers, backups and stored credentials are encrypted. Software updates and licences are signed.
Closed by default
A host firewall allows only the connections each part needs. Every service is confined to its own narrow set of destinations and runs in a hardened container.
An audit trail you can use
Every administrative action and sign-in decision goes to an append-only audit log. Access to restricted material is recorded before an answer is generated; if the record cannot be written, no answer is given.
Read-only, in place
s5kb reads your file shares, SharePoint and OneDrive with read-only access. Files are read into memory and never kept as copies. Only the extracted text and its search index are stored.
Signed updates, automatic rollback
Every update is signed by Nadira Solutions and verified by the appliance before it installs. A failed update returns the appliance to the previous working release.
Backups only you can read
Backups are encrypted on the appliance before they leave it, so your backup share holds nothing readable. The recovery key stays with you.
Tested before it reaches you
Before beta, Nadira Solutions reviewed the whole product against a written checklist and fixed every critical and high finding. We then proved the fixes on a real appliance, against a real Active Directory and a real Microsoft 365 tenant, including a deliberate firewall failure and reboot drill.
Built for regulated industries.
For organizations that cannot send their documents to a cloud AI service. The private beta is open: email us and we will tell you whether your organization is a fit.
